Climate change affects us all, but developing countries are particularly exposed to its impacts. The vulnerability of poor countries to natural hazards of various kinds is so extensive that it is already threatening the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The Swedish Government has decided to contribute to international efforts in adaption and risk reduction by launching the international Commission on Climate Change and Development. Through the Commission, expertise on development, disaster risk reduction and climate change can help identify a way forward.

CommissionersThe Commission on Climate Change and Development gathers 13 renowned individuals and is probably unique in its international character and balanced composition. It will be chaired by the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation, Ms Gunilla Carlsson.

A secretariat under the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will help the Commission in its work.

Welcome to this webpage and please contact the Secretariat if you have further questions.
